Holiday Wreath-Making Fundraiser 2012
Make and sell beautiful holiday wreaths to help fund outdoor education and Clan camping trips at Pathfinder K8. Order forms are available here. Recruiting for wreath and clan coordinators is underway. Learn more here.
Beginning November 26 through December 20. Get the schedule for Clan Wreath-making nights and Saturdays.
The “Wreath Workshop” will be open most school days from 9:00am until 3:00, and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays until around 2:00 p.m.. We invite you to ask for a wreath trainer to meet you if you need to learn how to make a wreath. Contact Lynette Martin at 206-380-2572 or email@example.com to schedule a training time.
Everyone can participate and earn Clan “credit” that will help fund outdoor education and camping trip. See below for ways to get involved.
Bring in greens
Bring in greens (noble fir, pine, hemlock, douglas fir, cedar - fluffy type, not flat) and other interesting foliage listed below. Not sure what some of the plants listed look like? Check out these photos of great wreath-making ingredients.
- blue juniper
- variegated holly with berries
- red/yellow twigs.
- rose hips
- hydrangea heads
- crocosmia stems
- ligularia seed heads
- lilly stalks
- astrantia seed heads
- poppy seed heads
Cut the stems in 12" - 14" stalks, tie together with a rubber band or twine, and hang upside down in a dark, cool, dry place.
Hydrangea heads will dry with color intact if you place each stem in a separate container with a shot of water.
We need volunteers to clip and organize greens to help make the wreath-making process go smoothly. Beginning November 21 through December 16, a heated “Wreath Workshop” will be open most school days from 9:00am until about 8pm. Weekends, too! Drop by and help prepare and organize greens.
Sell wreaths to your friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors
Take orders for wreathes from your friends, family, co-workers and neighbors. Complete an order form and submit your payment. Pick up your wreathes on the day you designated for pick up and deliver them to your happy customers.
It is easy and we will teach you how! Call Lynette Martin at 206-380-2572 to arrange a wreath making training time.
Clans will also be holding special clan wreath-making parties that include childcare. Talk to your teacher or clan coordinator for more information. Click here for a schedule of clan wreath-making parties and Saturday wreath-making events.
Help sell wreaths outside the West Seattle Farmer's market
One hour shifts are available at the West Seattle Farmer's Market on Sunday.
Help with childcare or production area clean up
Childcare during clan nights is often scheduled in the classroom and staffed by parent volunteers. Check with your classroom teacher to see if you can help with child care. The Wreath area needs help to stay organized and clean. Sweeping and organizing or clipping greens all counts for Clan Credit. Make sure you sign in the log book located in the Wreath Area!
